In Her Name: Confederation By: Michal Hicks Review

The "In Her Name" books have become probably my favorite all time series in the last month or so (after i finished reading them) because of many reasons.  One of the biggest reasons why is that the author always brings in a new major story element or twist throughout the text.  In the first book the main character Reza starts out on an orphan planet where he is basically the champion of the orphans in the compound that they call home.  After overcoming an abusive and corrupted system he is then happy and cannot wait until he goes off to one of the marine academies off planet to join a new found friend in serving the Confederation (alliance of earth and all of her colonies to fight against the Kreelan (antagonistic alien race)  in order to somewhat follow in the footsteps of his parents to fight in the defense of humanity (follow them except for the bit about not surviving the experience, he still likes life).  Unfortunately before he can go through with his plans he and all of the other children of the planet get abducted by the Kreelans to "see if they have a soul"(see first books review here).  In the second book the author adds to this feeling by making a rather large change in Reza's life that makes the reader (at least it did for me) want to continue on to find out what happens to him next.

As with my first review i would like to mention that reader discretion is advised because of certain content throughout the book so if you are interested keep this in mind.  Also worth mentioning is the fact that the first book "In Her Name: Empire" is free on the iBooks and Kindle store and then the following two books in the series (including confederation) are five dollars.  I would really recommend this book to anyone because as with the previous it includes multiple themes and should interest a wider audience because of this.

(As a side note there are two companion series that go alone with "In Her Name" one of which is a prequel.)

    1. Thanks, also the review of the third book is out though it is quite a bit shorter. This is because, well it is the last book in the series and I don't want to give much away considering it just continues on from confederacy and that it caries on some of the action but also causes a bit more thinking on the readers end.

  2. This seems like a very distinct book. I might read that series soon.
